Could you imagine yourself as a miner or many of the women, Chinese migrants, Aborigines or children who were apart of the great Australian Gold Rush? Are you ready to see what life was like for the people living on the gold fields of Australia in the 1850s?
Your task is to work with your assigned teams to explore the lives of a group of people during the Gold Rush in Australia.
Each team will be assigned one of the following topic groups: miners, Chinese migrants, Aboriginal people, women or children. You are to research the lives of your topic group through a number of tasks. As a group you will use all the information gathered to present a poster depicting what life was like during the Gold Rush for your topic group.
Remember
Your main aim is to find out 'What life was like during the Australian Gold Rush' for the people you are researching (miners, Chinese migrants, Aboriginal people, women or children).
Teams
Each team is represented by a town where gold was discovered during the Gold Rush in the 1850s. Your teacher will assign you teams.

By the end of this WebQuest, you and your assigned team will have:
- Written a letter as either a miner, child, woman, Chinese migrant or Aboriginal person from the 1850s describing what life is like, the conditions (weather/food/clothing etc.)
- Located on a map the area your group was mining in
- Created a poster about your assigned group
- Researched about your assigned group using several sources (youtube clips, websites, books)
- Answered the four W questions (what, where, when, who) in an Online Mini Quiz
- Completed a KWL chart throughout the WebQuest
